Two years ago a son and his 80 year old father
were casually touring the booths at the York
Fair. They came across the Christian Farmers
Outreach Booth. The father, Victor, was really
very interested in getting a walking stick
but was not real interested in the message.
The son, Ray, was saved and was familiar with
the beads and their message. Knowing that his
father did not have a personal relationship
with Jesus, Ray said, “Come on Dad, let’s
just listen to the message and we can get that
walking stick that you are so interested in
having.” Victor agreed.
To the son’s delight, the one telling
the message was an older man. “I really
think my dad could relate to this man because
they were of a similar age,” Ray explained.
He also said, “The gospel was given
clearly and gently.” Ray was overwhelmed
when his father accepted Christ, when Victor
prayed to receive Jesus. “It made a difference
in my father’s life. My mom was saved
before she passed, and I think my dad was comforted
in his last year knowing that he would go to
heaven also,” Ray reflected. “And
now they are both in heaven together. My dad
passed away last December knowing where his
future would be. My father died a year ago
and now is in heaven because God used CFO.”
“It was awesome to hear the gospel at
the fair, because it was so non-threatening.
The person sharing was so gentle and loving.
A dear family member of ours (who is so excited
about the gospel that her sharing of the
gospel became overly zealous) actually discouraged
my father. Being at the fair was great and
my father was open to the message.”
Ray would like to offer the following words
to those who work in the ministry:
