Burnam
walked into the booth and, with great enthusiasm,
said, “Jesus changed my life!
I got saved because of you guys. The Lord has
totally changed my life.” The Lord used
CFO to introduce Him to Jesus and Jesus changed
his life. Burnam Godfrey, Jr. stopped by the
CFO Booth at the York Fair to find the man
who had led him to Jesus a year ago and to
say “thanks.”
During
the 2005 York Fair, Burnam saw the CFO Booth
but didn’t stop. He had been
thinking about being saved for some time but
did not know how. Seeing the booth renewed
these thoughts and a desire to be saved. Burnam
told his wife “I’m going to get
saved and start a new life.” So on Wednesday,
Burnam returned to the York Fair and sought
out the CFO Booth. He remembers praying with
a man to ask for forgiveness of his sins and
to receive Christ.
In
the past year, Burnam has adopted the practice
of praying each night for forgiveness, reads
his Bible, and attends church. He even tells
of the miracle which God showed him in saving
his wife’s life. She has been sick
for six years, was desperately malnourished
and
weighed only 72 pounds. The doctor offered
no hope. Now his wife weighs 124 pounds and
is active. The doctor admits that she knows
of no reason other than a miracle from God.
Burnam
says that, through his visit to the CFO Booth,
Jesus changed his life. He didn’t
know how to be saved, so he came to the Christian
booth in hopes of finding out. God answered
that wish and now Burnam is on his way to
heaven. He only wishes he had done that some
time earlier.
CFO
is grateful for Burnam’s testimony.
It is an encouragement for everyone who has
worked in a booth to know that each decision
is a real one and we are making a difference
in peoples’ lives.
